Why you SHOULD hire an Interior Designer/Interior Architect

The most common question I get asked by potential clients is, "Why should and/or do I need to hire an Interior Designer?" I always answer with the question, "Do you need to hire a doctor for surgery on your body?"

Interior design is an underrated profession in the built environment. It has been giving such a "Fluffy" perspective by the architects, builders, and even television. Interior Design has always been classified as a pretty profession with no purpose or needs in the construction or building industry. Architects have prided themselves with devaluing us for their own gain, while constructors can't justify our cost, and their wives need to have a hobby. Hate to pop some bubbles, but in the middle of a project, architects realize they need us for interior space planning and innovative selections, while contractors see their wives poor design decisions have cost them money and possible law sues. These events happen daily and continue to happen time after time. As these continue to become more significant issues, they are the number one reason you should always hire an interior design/interior architect when dealing with your interior spaces.

An interior designer should always be hired when an architect is hired and before a contractor is selected. You might ask, "Why and I hiring an Architect and an Interior Designer?" The reason is that they are both trained to specialize in two different parts and times of a project. An architect focuses on the envelope of a structure, and the Interior Designer/Interior Architect focuses on the interior elements and circulation within the void. Each can and should work collaboratively to ensure the overall project has a consistent, well-functioned, and design outcome. Not every project will need both specialties; it will be on a project-by-project basis.

Here are a few reasons why Interior Designers and Interior Architects will be your saving grace and overall fighter for you.

YOU'LL GET ACCESS TO THEIR INSIDER NETWORK OF TRADESPEOPLE

Linda Coin, a Flordia-based interior designer, said it well in an Ell Decor magazine interview quoted,

"Coin points out that designers "typically have access to contacts and competent craftsmen that they can recommend and oversee during the project." That way, you don't have to worry about whether your new cabinets will arrive on time or if the tiling has been executed correctly."

This is one of the primary duties of an Interior Designer. They are to be your go-to person for interior issues and solutions, so we tend, and more than likely have an extensive network of trades, vendors, and craftsmen. We not only actual these individuals, but they trust us, which in return we get unique treatments that we like to share with our clients from time to time. This of us as an actor; Betty Midler, Tome Cruise, Sarah Jessica Park, we are A-list in our local market and wanted to bring out client along for the ride.

WE ARE THE TREND SETS WITH PURPOSE

We are aligned with fashion and have to stay on-trend. Either its colors, aesthetics, or new materials, there is a consistent movement of what is In and going out. Along with keep on-trend, we also look at your space in a technical sense by ensuring you can function in your area with ease. The function is the number goal for any well-trained interior designer. Anyone can make something pretty, but it takes special people to make it function well too.

WE FIGHT FOR YOU UNTIL THE END

We always have your best interest in mind. We are on your side in every aspect of the process. Trust is critical in working with a designer. You have got have complete trust in your designer decisions for your space and how they are handling your project. This is why it's best to interview at least three designers to make sure you are hiring something you can be around and work with you for the next 6 months to a year. Believe me, it makes the process so much smoother with someone who can fight for you.
